Creating a Cosmopolitan Pied a Terre
When our clients sold the Westchester Tudor which we renovated and decorated for them in 2001, they returned to us to work with them creating a classic contemporary interior in Manhattan. While they wanted a modern home, they also wanted to accommodate a few cherished antiques.
NEW YORK CITY, NY
The apartment was gutted down to bare concrete in order to recreate open flexible spaces and to better take advantage of the balconies and views. Substantial structure, as well as pocket doors, TVs, and storage, are concealed within paneled volumes to help anchor and simplify the spaces.
What was once a dark galley kitchen is now a spacious cook’s kitchen with space to entertain. The new family room takes full advantage of the views of the city and offers ample space for family gatherings. Wall paneling brings interest to the spaces and helps to conceal wine storage, closets, and a walk-in pantry. A new master suite was created, with walk-in his and her closets and an expansive bathroom.
